What Components Are Needed for a Home Theater?

A home theater is made up of several different pieces that are joined together to create an audio and video experience in your home that will be comparable to the experiences you would have in a movie theater. In the past fifteen years the home theater has become a very popular item because the price of having these components lowered to the point that the average person could afford to buy and install them.

The main component in a home theater is the DVD player or the equivalent of a DVD player that will play movies. You would have used to have needed a machine that would play reels of film in order to get the same experience at home that you get when you go downtown to see the movie. The DVD or Blu-Ray players allow people to see the pictures in private residences projected on to screens of many different sizes. You can also use a video projector and a projector screen to create the allure of the cinema in your own house.

You really need to get a television screen that is at least a fifty inch in order to get the real home theater experience. You can get larger screens and you of course can get smaller screens, but the bigger the screen that your film is airing on the more theatrical it is.

A surround sound system is required in order for the audio of the movie to have the same quality as the audio in the cinema houses have. You will want several speakers and a sub-woofer connected to project the sound where you feel like you hear everything that is transmitted.

You will need speaker wires to connect the speakers of the surround sound to the different components. You will need a surround sound decoder and a radio tuner for your cinema complex. You will need a remote control to operate the components of your system. You will also need a way to dim the lights in the room so that you get the full effect of the video on the screen.

No cinema in a home would be complete without seating for several people to join together and view the show. Of course popcorn machines and refreshment centers are also a big part of the movie going experiences so you will want to include things of this nature in your private screening room.
